Overview

In another impact measure, we explore the awareness of Canadians on freshwater health and threats. With this measure, we want to know whether that knowledge translates to action. Measuring this over time will tell us if the freshwater community is actively identifying and engaging its supporters and whether this engagement is contributing to the advancement of freshwater health outcomes.

More work needs to be done to ensure this impact measure is accurate and consistent. For example, we will need to develop a common definition of ‘action’ across OLW Network members and be tracking engagement in aligned ways. Also of interest is whether organizations are advancing the outcomes we want to see for fresh water as a result of this engagement, helping ensure that we are truly supporting our goal of all Canada’s waters in good health by 2030.

5-Year target: To establish a process for, and identify, an initial benchmark for this impact measure.
